Carbon Credit Trading for Cleaner Energy

Bio Fuels

The biofuel industry is seeing tremendous growth in response to regulation mandating the use of ‘green’ fuels in transport fuel. Emphasis on reduced greenhouse gas emisssions around the world is also encouraging consumers of fossil fuels to turn to renewable fuel sources in their power and heat generation.  As a result, bio-ethanol and bio-diesel - plant-based replacements for gasoline and diesel - already account for 1% of the world’s transport fuel supply and demand is increasing as countries begin mandating the blending of biofuels in transportation fuels. Bio-diesel production is expected to reach 12 billion litres by the end of 2010 while the global bio-ethanol trade is expected to increase sixfold by 2015.

However, many issues need to be addressed in the production and sale of biofuels including securing feedstock, identifying the right technology, generating revenues from both the fuel and byproducts and identifying the right market to target for sales. Due to the variation in fuel quality, it is also difficult to ensure consistent pricing, particularly as the fragmentation in the market makes negotiation difficult and time consuming.

CO2e provides a well-to-wheel service to help biodiesel, bioethanol and biomass producers get operations established, provide assistance throughout the production cycle and facilitate the sale of the fuel at a fair market price. Using our global networks, we leverage our contacts and volume to ensure the best prices possible for producers. Our understanding of the biofuels and carbon markets also enables us to match buyer demands with producer supplies and ensure that the full carbon revenue stream is delivered.
